Speakers’ Corner 🗣️

Step up, sound off. Got praise, complaints, or total nonsense to share? This is your stage.

At Blatantly British, we believe in celebrating pride from every corner of the UK—whether you're flying the Cross of St George, the Union Jack, the Scottish Saltire, the Welsh dragon, or the flag of Northern Ireland (yes, we see you too!). But occasionally, we get some... spirited feedback. So, here are our top flag-related questions, answered with a healthy dose of honesty (and a splash of sarcasm).

1. "Why do you have a 'Made in England' shirt with the Union Jack instead of the St George's Cross?"

Cracking question. We actually did our homework—surveyed folks across the UK—and found that some people weren’t too keen on wearing the St George’s Cross, thanks to certain... let’s say, unfortunate associations. Others felt the Union Jack didn’t quite hit the mark for English identity.

So rather than pick a side in the Great Flag Debate, we thought: why not offer both? That way, people can choose whichever flag best suits their sense of pride. Sorted.

2. "Why am I seeing your England design when I'm in Wales?"

Good spot and fair play for noticing! We’ve got love for all four nations, including Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We actually have designs dedicated to each, because let’s face it, no one wants to be lumped under someone else’s banner.

As for the ads – blame the algorithms. They're not always the sharpest tools in the shed. But while you’re here, check out our full collections blatantlybritish.co.uk/collections and no funny business.

3. "Do you even know the difference between the Union Jack and the St George's flag?"

We do. Honest. One's the national flag of the UK, and the other represents England specifically. We offer both because identity is personal, and we're not here to tell people how to feel British (English, Welsh, Scottish, or Northern Irish...). We just give them great T-shirts and let them get on with it.

4. "Is this some political statement?"

Nope. It’s cotton. It stretches. It washes well. It’s designed to make you look good and feel proud. No manifestos here.

5. "Why not just stick to one flag and keep it simple?"

Because the UK isn’t just one country, it’s a glorious patchwork quilt of pride, history, and accents that make us laugh (and sometimes cry). Keeping it simple? We’re not in the business of doing simple.

6. "Made in Britain = **** ?"

Ah yes, the eloquence of emoji-based critique. Look, we get it—not everyone feels a surge of national pride when they see "Made in Britain." But for many, it's still a mark of quality, heritage, and identity. We’re not trying to please everyone—we’re here for the ones who do feel proud of where they’re from. If that’s not your thing, that’s fine. There are plenty of T-shirts in the sea.

7. "Northern Ireland isn’t in Britain haha!"

Ah yes, the classic “Northern Ireland isn’t in Britain” quip. Always good for ruffling feathers. But let’s clear this up once and for all: Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom—officially, that’s the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (yes, it’s a mouthful, we know).

Technically, Great Britain covers England, Scotland, and Wales. Northern Ireland isn’t on that particular island—but it is firmly in the UK. And more to the point, it’s also part of the British Isles. So yes, it counts.

At Blatantly British, we proudly rep all four nations. Borders don’t stop pride, and we don’t draw lines when it comes to celebrating British identity. So fly the flag, Northern Ireland—we’ve got your back.

8. "Are your T-shirts made in Britain?"

Ah, the million-pound question! The designs are printed and shipped right here in good old Blighty, which means we’re backing British businesses and keeping delivery nice and snappy. However—and here’s the straight-up truth—the base T-shirts themselves aren’t manufactured in the UK. They’re sourced from top-notch, ethically-run suppliers abroad.

Now, if we’re talking entirely British-made from thread to tag, we’d be in heritage boutique territory—and the price tag would reflect it. These days, fully British-made garments are rare beasts unless you’re going full Savile Row. So, while we wave the Union Jack proudly on the design front, we’re also keeping things practical and affordable for real-world wardrobes.

9. "So not made in Britain, how Blatantly British"

Fair point—and trust me, if there were British factories churning out blank tees at scale, we’d be first in line. But in true British fashion, we’re making the most of what’s available: designing, printing, and fulfilling right here in the UK, supporting local jobs and flying the flag where we can.

Blatantly British isn’t just about geography—it’s about attitude, humour, pride, and telling it like it is. No fake flag-waving, just unapologetic Britishness in every stitch of sarcasm.
